Victor and John saved me from a full AC do over. I had them out to do a service on my 12 year old system. No more water fountain from the emergency line. Pricing was very fair and I recommend their competitively priced service contract. Thank you Victor and John. 5 stars and I highly recommend.

It is so refreshing to have Victor and his crew taking great care of me and my clients. As a Realtor, it is crucial to be able to refer clients to someone that represents me well when interacting and serving my clients I send there way. They knock it out of the park and are fast, courteous and very fair on what they charge.

Super responsive and professional! They were able to work around my schedule to get me an estimate within a couple of days, and get a mini split A/C unit installed for me within a week even though I asked for a couple of unusual features (WiFi access for example). The installers were very professional and the result looks great and functions perfectly. The owner followed up with me to verify that everything was done to my satisfaction. I will be switching to these guys for my hvac annual maintenance going forward!five stars

Absolute Airflow provides professional water heater flush services at affordable prices, but how do you know when your water heater needs to be flushed? Periodic flushes are important to avoid premature breakdowns, hot water shortages, and noise. The process involves draining all the water from your water heater tank, along with the sediment that has accumulated. This sediment naturally accumulates from the minerals contained in hard water.

To avoid serious problems, be sure to flush your water heater at the recommended intervals.

How Often Should My Water Heater Be Flushed?

Hard water contains minerals that settle out and build up in the tank and pipes. How frequently your water heater should be flushed depends on where you live. The concentration of calcium carbonate in water has a lot to do with it. The Northeast, South, and Northwest regions of the United States tend to have less calcium carbonate, while portions of the Midwest and Rocky Mountains have more. In lower concentration regions, your water heater should be flushed once a year. Where mineral concentrations are higher, it should be flushed at least twice a year.

What Does the Process Entail?

You will need a professional to perform a water heater flush properly. They will first turn off the gas connection, cold water supply, and water heater thermostat before turning on a hot water tap and opening the pressure relief valve. The drain spigot will then be opened to flush the tank of water, sediment, and mineral buildup. In the process, water in the tank is emptied through a hose and exits through a drain.

When the flush is complete, the drain valve will be closed. The water heater tank can be filled once again. A technician will reopen the water supply valve and power up the heater. While the process may not sound complicated, don’t take a DIY approach to draining a water heater; it can be dangerous.

Why Flushing Your Water Heater Is Important

If sediment is left to build up in the tank, the water can become overheated. Water expands as it heats, creating pressure that can cause the tank to leak or even explode. Water heater failure is usually preceded by often expensive repairs caused by sediment causing key components, such as the heating element, to fail.

Sediment can also dramatically reduce the capacity of your water heater. Gallons of sediment can accumulate. If you have a 30-gallon water heater reduced by 10 gallons, the hot water available to your household can be significantly reduced.

In addition, water heaters with sediment buildup can be quite noisy. You might hear loud knocking sounds or popping noises if your tank is filling up. The noises are caused by overheated water and steam that causes sediment to move around within.

Is It Time to Flush Your Water Heater?

Absolute Airflow provides water heater flush services (and even offers discounted specials) to protect your water heater and hot water supply. Our technicians are highly trained in the techniques and equipment used to drain the water and sediment. Like our other maintenance services, a water heater flush can save you a lot of money in plumbing repairs and replacements down the road. To inquire about whether you need a water heater flush or to schedule one, call Absolute Airflow 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at 833-482-2626.
